Aluminum vs. Steel: How Much Faster and Easier Is This Compressed Air Network to Install?

A comprehensive guide to pipe fittings

In this detailed guide, we explore the key features, advantages, and considerations of our three types of compressed air pipe fittings: Aluminum (Series 08), Brass (Series 07), and Polymer (Series 05).

Topring Piping System Aluminum Fittings

The aluminum fittings of series 08 are unmatched in the compressed air industry. They are CRN-certified for provincial regulatory compliance and safety and are compatible with compressed air, vacuum, inert gas and nitrogen.

They have exceptional durability and lightweight construction. Compared to other fitting materials, they have superior corrosion resistance, which positions them above the others in terms of longevity in demanding environments.

Topring Piping System fittings may have a higher initial cost than traditional steel. However, quick and easy assembly/disassembly for maintenance, network expansion, and reusability allows them to quickly become the more affordable option in the long run.

Another advantage of Serie 08 fittings is the unique design of the Bypass Saddle Tees, which install drop legs or pipe descents. These tees do not require the system to be disassembled to add additional drop legs, and pressurized drilling models even allow for additions while the system is under pressure.

Series 08 includes a wide range of shapes, types, and sizes, from 16 to 160 mm, and has two main fitting types. Compression fittings are perfect for any application, and compact connection fittings are specifically designed for compressor rooms and tight spaces. Their design, range, size, and performance advantages of aluminum make them the market leader.

Brass Pipe Fittings

Similar to our aluminum fittings, these brass counterparts are CRN-certified and are compatible with compressed air, vacuum, and nitrogen.

They are reusable, resistant to corrosion and suitable for various applications. As with aluminum fittings, they are easy to install with push-to-connect and screw-type compression technology, reducing labour time as there is no need to thread or weld. They are leak-tight and very resistant under pressure, which provides a dimensionally stable installation.

These fittings work with both aluminum and polyamide pipes.

Polyamide (acetal copolymer) Pipe Fittings

The polyamide fittings of Series 05 are approved for installation as a compressed air piping system by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ). They are compatible with compressed air and nitrogen.

These lightweight, leak-tight and durable fittings are quick and easy to assemble using push-to-connect technology. They are fully reusable and an excellent option for a cost-effective solution because they are so easy to install.

These fittings work with both aluminum and polyamide pipes.
